The Opportunity

At Hyper Hippo, we're looking for a Hybrid Infrastructure & Systems Administrator to help power the infrastructure behind our live games. Reporting to the Technical Director, you'll manage our hybrid build environment, cloud infrastructure, and live game services, ensuring smooth releases across iOS, Android, and Steam.

You'll own our Jenkins build pipelines, optimize our multi-cloud environment across GCP, Azure, and AWS, and support the systems that power player authentication, databases, and live operations. Working closely with our development, production, IT, and data teams, you'll play a key role in keeping our games running reliably for players around the world.

A Hybrid Infrastructure & Systems Administrator’s Impact

  • Build Infrastructure Management: Maintain and scale our hybrid build pipelines using Jenkins, balancing physical on-premises machines with cloud-based controllers to generate mobile and PC game builds.
  • Multi-Cloud Monitoring & Delivery: Oversee live game services on GCP, coordinate with the data team on Azure deployments, and manage global game asset delivery via AWS CDN.
  • Database & Backend Administration: Monitor, tune, and maintain our data tier, including MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis caching layers.
  • Network & Security Collaboration: Partner with the IT Administrator to configure enterprise-wide DNS, firewalls, and Google Workspace (GSuite) ecosystems.
  • Player Authentication: Support and maintain our external player identity and access management system using Keycloak to ensure secure player logins.

Your Track Record Includes

  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration, DevOps, or site reliability engineering (SRE).
  • Hands-on administration experience primarily with Google Cloud (GCP), with familiarity across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Strong expertise configuring, scaling, and troubleshooting hybrid cloud/physical Jenkins architectures.
  • Proficient in administering relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Armor, firewalls, networking, and DNS management.
  • Familiarity with deploying applications and automating builds for iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play), and the Unity game engine.
  • Familiarity with supporting application environments built on ASP.NET, SignalR, and Google Pub/Sub is an asset.
  • Experience with OAuth2 and OpenID Connect, particularly in Keycloak for external player authentication, security protocols, and user flows, is an asset.
  • Experience with scripting or light software development using PowerShell, Bash, or JavaScript to automate infrastructure tasks, troubleshoot backend systems, or support small development tasks is an asset.
