Job Responsibilities:
Role Summary
The Industrial Engineering internship role provides students with the opportunities to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students' career goals through contacts with professionals in their fields of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Magna by working on important and innovative projects. Our internships are structured learning experiences where interns and our full-time professionals work together on projects within functional departments. The internship assignments allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Magna.
  • Salary: $60,206 annually
  • To fill an open vacancy as of May 4, 2026
  • 16 month contract position

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop standard documentation including process maps to reduce waste and drive improvement on operation KPIs
  • Assist Engineers with time and motion studies to improve overall efficiency of manufacturing processes
  • Actively participate in team meetings and provide input and take ownership of actions
  • Contribute to the design of workstations, equipment, and material flow, AMR paths and plant layout to optimize workflow
  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Conduct root cause analysis for material flow issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement related to material flow, operation, inventory management
  • Support the setup, maintenance and interface of ERP systems that govern material flow operations
  • Assisting in the transformation of Magna's material flow in the implementation of Pull Methodology.
  • Collect Relevant Data, perform data analysis to measure material flow performance and identify areas of improvement
  • Support the day-to-day activities as required from the department

Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Preferred Engineering Discipline: Industrial
  • Ideal candidates must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and Attention to detail
  • Effective problem-solving skills, and ability to manage deadlines and multiple concurrent tasks
  • Capable of self-learning and generating own tasks
  • Intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of Excel or other data analysis tools
  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, Java, C#)
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma would be an asset
  • Manufacturing experience would be an asset
  • Currently enrolled in a co-op program
  • To be considered, students must have a minimum, overall GRADE AVERAGE OF "B".
