What the Role Is
In 2023, Babylist expanded into healthcare and wellness with the launch of Babylist Health, following the acquisition of a durable medical equipment (DME) company. Since then, Babylist Health has continued to grow, creating new opportunities to support families with essential health services and products.
At Babylist Health, we believe every family deserves clarity and confidence in understanding their insurance coverage. As an Insurance Billing Specialist, DME you will play a critical role in making that possible by ensuring accurate eligibility verification, clean claim submission, timely reimbursement, and resolution of aged accounts. This position is key to removing financial and administrative barriers so families can access the DME they need without unnecessary delays. You’ll report to the Insurance Claim Recovery Manager and collaborate closely with teammates across the business to deliver a billing process that is accurate, compliant, and patient-centered.
This role is fully remote and open to candidates across the United States. The team operates on a Pacific Standard Time schedule, Monday through Friday, with two shift options: 8:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m. PST or 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. PST. Regardless of location, all team members work PST aligned hours to ensure consistency for our patients and partners.
Who You Are
- You have at least 3 years of professional insurance billing and eligibility experience, with your primary focus on DME billing and reimbursement. Experience must be from professional roles where you were directly responsible for billing outcomes.
- Experienced across the full billing cycle, including eligibility verification, prior authorizations, denial management, appeals, and aged account resolution, with a proven record of improving collections and reducing outstanding balances.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, and DME-specific compliance standards (HIPAA, CMS, ERISA, ACA).
- Advanced ability to interpret and act on EOBs — accurately identifying coverage details, payments, denials, adjustments, and patient responsibility, and determining the correct next step (rebill, appeal, escalate, or close).
- Proficient with Brightree and NikoHealth; familiar with other billing/EMR systems (Epic, Kareo, AdvancedMD, etc) and productivity tools (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, Zoom).

How You Will Make An Impact
- Conduct insurance eligibility verification and benefit investigations through payer portals and phone outreach to ensure accurate coverage
- Submit, review, and follow up on claims, supporting timely reimbursement and reducing denials
- Manage aged accounts, identifying barriers and driving resolution of outstanding balances
- Take ownership of EOB review and resolution — interpreting details and carrying out the correct next steps to maintain billing accuracy
- Draft and submit appeals for denied claims, supported by thorough documentation
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients regarding their benefits and billing inquiries
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve workflows, enhance compliance, and elevate the patient experience
- Leverage new technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to strengthen billing and reimbursement processes while ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Ensure families have timely access to critical DME by bridging the gap between providers, payers, and patients

Babylist follows a market-based approach to compensation, with pay varying based on location, experience, and qualifications. In compliance with applicable pay transparency laws, the starting salary range for this role is $52,082.00 to $78,227.00 , representing the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this position.
Your starting salary within this range will be determined based on your skills, experience, and work location, with future adjustments informed by role growth, performance, and internal pay equity.
