We are looking for an experienced Integration and Test Specialist to support the testing and validation of network management applications used to monitor and control complex communications systems. This role will focus on hands-on system and integration testing, test automation, network management protocols, and troubleshooting across software and networking environments. The successful candidate will work closely with development teams to identify defects, validate fixes, and ensure applications meet functional, technical, performance, and operational requirements.
What you'll do
- Develop a strong understanding of network management applications, system architecture, interfaces, and operational workflows.
- Develop, review, execute, and maintain system, integration, functional, and regression test cases.
- Build and maintain automated test solutions using Python.
- Perform hands-on testing of network management applications and supporting network infrastructure.
- Validate network configuration and management functionality using protocols and interfaces such as NETCONF and gNMI.
- Characterize, document, and track software defects, working closely with development teams to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
- Verify that products meet technical, functional, performance, and business requirements.
- Perform network and application troubleshooting using packet captures, traffic generators, logs, and other diagnostic tools.
- Test network devices, services, APIs, databases, containers, and distributed system components as part of end-to-end system validation.
- Support testing of IP networking, routing, VLANs, network management interfaces, and automated device configuration.
- Document test results, defects, findings, and supporting evidence using test management and issue-tracking tools.
- Work independently while collaborating closely with software development, networking, systems, and integration teams.
What you'll need to get the job done
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience in software, system, integration, or network testing.
- Strong hands-on experience testing network management applications.
- Strong experience developing test automation using Python.
- Hands-on knowledge of NETCONF and gNMI for network device configuration, management, or validation.
- Strong understanding of IP networking, including TCP, UDP, VLANs, routing, and the OSI model.
- Experience working with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and/or IS-IS.
- Experience working with routers, switches, and networked systems in lab or production-like environments.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containers, and virtualized application environments.
- Experience with network troubleshooting and traffic analysis tools such as tcpdump, iPerf, Spirent, IXIA, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with data formats and interfaces such as JSON, XML, YAML, Protobuf, and REST APIs.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative technical team.
- The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
- Ability to work onsite four days per week in a hybrid environment.
