Are you a  Site Reliability Engineer looking for a new challenge?  We’re looking for an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer to join us at Thinkific.

In this role, you will improve the performance, reliability, and security of our platform by partnering with cross-functional teams, driving SRE best practices, and ensuring operational excellence.

Your goal will be to help guide and execute on projects related to your technical domain. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:

  • Helping to improve our technical domains by supporting system reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Assisting in the implementation of infrastructure using AWS services (like EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, and ALB) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Helm
  • Working to enhance our deployment pipelines to enable faster, more secure releases
  • Participating in our on-call rotation to help maintain a high level of service reliability
  • Collaborating with development teams to promote reliability and scalability
  • Supporting and optimizing our distributed systems, including databases and message queues
  • Using tools like New Relic, Prometheus, or Grafana to maintain observability and ensure monitoring aligns with our service level objectives (SLOs)
  • Automating operational tasks using scripting languages like Ruby, Python, or Bash

The person we have in mind likely:

  • 2+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering, with at least 1-2 years in a DevOps or SRE-focused role
  • Experience with operating Kubernetes in production environments
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and services
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Helm) and automation
  • Proficiency in a scripting or coding language such as Python, Ruby, or Bash
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Grafana
  • A solid grasp of networking and distributed systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • Experience working with Node.js and/or Ruby on Rails applications
  • Familiarity with secure software supply chains and improving CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of Cloudflare, CDN configuration, and load balancing strategies
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes

We’re committed to fair and transparent pay that reflects both where you are and where you can grow to. This role has a salary range of $91,000 – $113,800 – $136,600 in Canada, designed to capture the full journey from developing skills to excelling in the position. Most new hires start between the minimum and midpoint, which aligns with being fully capable in the role. Salaries above the midpoint are typically reserved for team members who have demonstrated strong, consistent performance, deep expertise, and a significant positive impact within the role.

For high-demand or hard-to-fill positions like this one, we may hire above midpoint for candidates who bring exceptional experience, skills, or impact potential.

If your experience is close to what we’ve described but you feel that you might be missing a few of the requirements, please still apply! We believe in equal opportunity and are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across every facet of our business.

We’re also committed to providing a comfortable and accessible interview experience for every candidate. If there are any accommodations our team can make throughout our hiring process (big or small), please let us know.
