**Travel to Office expectations**
For Remote Roles: As this role is remote, there will be in-office events that will require travel to and from the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City office. These will include, but not limited to, onboarding, team events, semi-annual and annual team meetings.
For Hybrid Roles: As this role is Hybrid, there will be an expectation to reside within commutable distance to the office/location specified in the job listing. This will include, but not limited to, weekly/bi-weekly/monthly events in the office with your specific team. This is a requirement for this role.
What does a typical day look like for a Data Software Engineer?
· You would be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting our emerging big data analytics capabilities through the development and maintenance of advanced data ingestion, processing, modeling and reporting capabilities.
· The majority of your day would be spent working with a cross-functional team of developers, product leaders, to specify, design, develop, test, and implement software.

What does the growth potential look like?
· We focus heavily on employee career progression and provide many internal opportunities for upward advancement. An Intermediate or junior software Engineer will typically progress to Sr. Engineer, Principal Engineer and/or Architect. There are also opportunities to move into other departments depending on your areas of interest.

What qualifications do you look for?
· Int. Software engineer with 2+ years of experience in Java, SpringBoot microservices
· Experience with Jenkins, Docker/Kubernetes on Cloud (Azure or AWS)
· Experience writing RESTful API endpoints
· Nice to have hands-on experience with Relational databases (like Microsoft SQL Server), by tuning SQL queries and analyzing query plans
· Knowledge of non-relational / NoSQL data store: Azure ADLS, DeltaLake, Apache Hudi
· Excellent organization, critical-thinking
· Self-starter with the ability to deliver with minimal supervision
· Being okay with the uncomfortable feeling that comes from learning new things
· Team player
· Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
· Proven experience as a great Engineer
· For the education requirements, we’re looking to hire someone with a Degree in Computer/Software Engineering.

Prompt Engineering for Productivity – Strong ability to craft effective prompts for AI tools like GitHub Copilot to generate, refactor, and explain code.
AI-Augmented Development in IDEs – Daily use of IDEs (e.g. IntelliJ, VS Code, Cursor) with AI-powered extensions (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Junie, Windsurf) to accelerate coding, testing, and debugging tasks.
AI in the SDLC Beyond Code – Leverages AI for writing documentation, generating test cases, summarizing technical discussions, and assisting with incident response or backlog grooming.
