Intern Engineering Designer, Mechanical

• Assist the project team in delivering projects, including the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary and detailed design calculations, reports and drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure
• Assist with applying for and obtaining required permits and approvals to proceed with construction
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses for vertical water and wastewater projects such as pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities
• Support design and analysis of linear infrastructure projects including water distribution and transmission systems, collection systems, watermain and sewer rehabilitation, and trenchless design
• Pump and forcemain sizing, hydraulic modeling, process piping layout and design, linear plan and profiles
• Condition assessment and asset management reporting
• Infrastructure optimization strategies
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously across different project phases
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

• Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness and ability to learn new software tools and apply them effectively
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality results
• Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset
• Experience with ArcGIS is an asset
• Ability to learn approval processes, including local and provincial design guidelines and standards
• Ability to learn planning and Environmental Assessment (EA) processes
• High levels of integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and sustainable decision-making
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse and inclusive teams
• Ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines
• Use of a personal vehicle is an asset
