The Role

The IT Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) is responsible for planning and implementing quality assurance procedures that actively gauge product quality for BeyondTrust’s Remote Support and Privileged Access product lines.  BeyondTrust’s products use many different technologies across many different platforms.  Thus, BeyondTrust is looking for QAE’s that come from varying technology backgrounds. QAE’s must display individual motivation and the ability to respond with innovation to new technological problems and new product possibilities.  As a member of the QA team, QAE’s are responsible for the quality of the more technical features of the software to be released.   

What You’ll Do

  • Determine test objectives and standards by studying software requirements.
  • Maintain test case repository by creating new test cases, test suites, and test plans.
  • Set up testing environments and equipment for new features in development as well as reproducing customer reported issues.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to identify software reliability, capability and performance.
  • Resolve potential testing problems by modifying testing methods; conferring with the team to revise test objectives and standards.
  • Communicate test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying defect data.
  • Always on the lookout for new testing tools, technologies, and processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
  • College Degree not required but must have equivalent professional or demonstratable relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies with Scrum experience a plus. 
  • Solid understanding of Windows required with Linux and Mac experience a plus.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP (IPv4, IPv6) network configuration and equipment.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, JavaScript, PHP) and the ability to read code is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, etc.).
  • Experience with virtualization, cloud environments, and cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with directory services (Active Directory, LDAP, SCIM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with authentication services (SAML, Kerberos, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with web service communication protocols (SOAP UI, REST API) is a plus.
  • Experience with Bug Tracking/Project Management tools (Jira, Mantis, Bugzilla, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with Test Case Management tools (TestRail, TestLink, etc.) is a plus.
