Job Overview

Telesat, a global leader in satellite communications, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Landing Station Project Coordinator to support the execution and delivery of complex space and ground segment programs. This role provides critical coordination, analysis, and documentation support across multiple engineering and program management workflows, ensuring that project schedules, requirements, configuration, budgets, and vendor activities remain aligned with program objectives.

As part of Telesat’s Landing Station team, you will work closely with program managers, engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to help deliver next‑generation satellite ground stations and associated mission-critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

    Project Scheduling & Coordination

    • Develop, maintain, and update integrated program schedules using tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
    • Track milestones, dependencies, critical path items, and deliverables across engineering, procurement, and deployment teams.
    • Monitor schedule performance and highlight risks, delays, or resource conflicts to the Program Manager.
    • Statement of Work (SOW) Support

      • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising SOWs for new procurements and change orders.
      • Support alignment between SOW requirements, vendor deliverables, and contractual obligations.
      • Coordinate with legal, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure clarity and traceability.
      • Requirements Management

        • Maintain requirements baselines and ensure proper documentation, traceability, and version control.
        • Support engineering and program teams during requirement reviews, design reviews, and verification activities.
        • Track requirement changes and ensure alignment across stakeholders and downstream work packages.
        • Configuration Management

          • Manage documentation control, including versioning, approvals, and distribution of controlled documents.
          • Maintain configuration records for technical baselines (hardware, software, interfaces).
          • Support formal configuration audits and change review boards.
          • Budget & Financial Tracking

            • Support program budgeting, cost estimates, and monthly financial reporting.
            • Track actuals vs. forecast, including variances, accruals, and spend profiles.
            • Assist with procurement requests, purchase orders, and invoice tracking.
            • Resource Management

              • Track resource allocations across program teams and identify potential constraints or gaps.
              • Maintain resource forecasts in alignment with schedule demands and program phases.
              • Support onboarding and coordination for internal and external resources.
              • Vendor & Partner Management

                • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to track deliverables, schedules, and documentation.
                • Support vendor performance monitoring, issue tracking, and risk management.
                • Facilitate communications, meetings, and action follow-ups between Telesat and vendor teams.

Education & Experience Required:

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years experience in project or program coordination, ideally in aerospace, telecommunications, or technology fields.
    • Experience with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera) and requirements/configuration management tools.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, technical environment.
    • Familiarity with satellite systems, ground stations, RF equipment, or space-related technologies (an asset).

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of project management best practices (PMP/CAPM an asset).
  • Ability to identify issues early and proactively support resolution.
  • Comfort working with engineering teams, technical documents, and multi-vendor environments.
  • Independent and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment
  • Develop and recommend technical and operational solutions
  • Evaluate and recommend acceptance of major assets and service contracts
  • Prioritize tasks and support project teams effectively
  • Fluent in English (written and oral)

Decision Making & Supervision:

    • No direct reports, but expected to lead multidisciplinary project teams
    • Provide technical guidance to engineers and specialists
    • Supervise suppliers and contractors during implementation activities

Working Conditions:

    • Work in office (hybrid) at Telesat Headquarters in Ottawa
    • Must be available to work across multiple time zones and outside standard working hours as needed
    • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
