About the Role

Monks is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Environment Artist (Supervisor) to join our team. As a Lead Environment Artist you will be responsible on project level for creating stunning virtual environments in Unreal Engine that will be used in our Virtual Production pipeline. You work together with our technical artists to and immersive environments for a variety of different purposes in the fields of visualisation, interactive applications, as well as virtual and augmented reality with a main focus on Unreal Engine. You will design environments from scratch and guide your assets through the entire production process, including sculpting, high poly to low poly, texture and geometry optimisation, building modular sets and material creation.


Responsibilities:

  • You continuously learn new techniques and industry trends to improve skills and knowledge in environment creation
  • You are responsible for the creation of 3D environments.
  • You bring in your proactive creative ideas and come up with the best solution.
  • You always have an eye on optimising the performance of your 3D scene.
  • You are used to dealing with time and budget constraints while creating the best possible output.
  • You proactively support to develop our CG pipeline and workflows even further.  
  • You will work in a team of dedicated CG Artists.
  • You continuously learn new techniques and industry trends to improve skills and knowledge in environment creation

About YouEssentials:

  • 8+ years of experience working as an environment artist. 
  • 4+ years of experience working in Unreal Engine professionally.
  • Excellent knowledge of moddeling, texturing, shading and lighting as well as very good
    experience in Unreal Engine.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Experience with Lighting and Shading.
  • Interest in high-quality visualisations.
  • Experience in at least one of the following packages (Houdini, Substance).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, and visual storytelling
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team
