ROLE: 

We are looking for a hands-on, highly adaptable Lead Systems Administrator who thrives in fast-moving, evolving environments. This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, identifies problems before they are reported, and is comfortable building, improving, and iterating systems without heavy direction.

You will be responsible not just for maintaining systems, but for continuously improving how we operate, balancing speed, security, and practicality in a growing organization.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • User Account/Device Management: Own the full employee IT lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding—ensuring new hires are productive on day one and systems remain secure, scalable, and lightweight as the company grows.
  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Design, deploy, and evolve cloud and SaaS systems (Azure AD, Intune, Jamf, AWS) with an emphasis on simplicity, automation, and scalability, making judicious trade-offs where necessary.
  • Network Infrastructure Management: Develop and maintain network diagrams, manage firewall configurations, VPN (Fortinet / OpenVPN) and AWS Server setups, and ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Tool Configuration and Management: Oversee the configuration and management of security tools, including email security solutions, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Defender, and log management systems.
  • Policy Development: Create and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficient operations.
  • Technical Support: Provide responsive, solution-oriented support while proactively identifying recurring issues and eliminating root causes through automation or process improvement.
  • System Patching and Updates: Manage and deploy system patches and updates to maintain security and functionality across all devices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in IT system administration, with a focus on user account management, system configuration, and network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, Intune for Windows, Jamf for Mac
  • Experience with Fortinet firewall management and VPN configuration.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing security tools such as email security solutions, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Defender, and log management systems.
  • Familiarity with device imaging and deployment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.

BONUS POINTS:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator MD-102, MS-102, SC300, AWS Certified Solutions Architect SOA-C02,  Jamf JCA/JCT).
  • Experience with system patching and update deployment strategies.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and best practices in IT security.

COMMENTS/SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Candidates must pass a criminal background check and provide two professional references.

All candidates must be eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance.
