Job DescriptionThe House of Commons’ Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel (OLCPC) is currently looking to staff the Legislative Publications Support and Quality Assurance Officer position.
This recruitment and selection process is restricted to House of Commons Administration employees.
The Legislative Publications Support and Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for producing print versions of legislative texts at various stages of the parliamentary legislative process and for the proofreading and technical revision of revised parliamentary documents in both official languages, including government and private Members’ bills. This responsibility also extends to the proofreading and technical revision of Board of Internal Economy (BOIE) by-Laws and the List of Reports and Returns.
The position assist in searching and analyzing the Journals for reports tabled in the relevant parliamentary session and produces search findings that are used by the Manager to prepare and produce the List of Reports and Returns. The incumbent also contributes to ongoing improvements to systems and applications used in support of the legislative review process.

Education:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary college or university degree in a related field OR an acceptable combination equivalent of education, training and experience.
Experiences:
- Experience in creating, formatting, comparing and revising complex texts and documents in both official languages;
- Experience in providing administrative, coordination and information management support;
- Experience in working in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, managing multiple documents versions while respecting quality criteria;
- Experience applying special procedures and processes for the receipt and version control of confidential or secret government documents;
- Experience in working with specialized software and applying specific techniques to proofread, edit, convert and format texts in electronic and other formats (e.g. HTML, PDF);
- Experience in applying terminology and accessibility standards;
- Experience analyzing recurring issues, identifying and correcting errors, and implementing effective revisions;
- Strong administrative and organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
Assets:
- Experience using the PRISM system;
- Experience working with legislative texts;
- Experience working with Parliamentary Publications.
