As the Manager of a newly forming Payroll Tax Amendment team, you will help build, mentor and coach an experienced team of Payroll Tax Notice Specialists that will drive operational excellence. You should have the ability to dependably execute both routine and less typical tasks to make sure our clients are compliant. Your role involves working cross-functionally to solve customer issues, as well as communicating with federal, state & local jurisdictions.
Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
- Help build and manage a new team of 5 Tax Amendment Specialists responsible for all tax amendment filing across our PEO and ASO payroll models
- Perform all managerial duties to include, hiring, performance reviews & separations as needed
- Execute and maintain Tax Amendment Standard Operating Procedures to include SLA’s for completion of work
- Create and file amended returns as needed using Mastertax across all Federal, State & Local jurisdictions as needed. This includes W2C’s and amended 1099’s (NEC and MISC)
- Create and back file payroll tax returns as pertinent information is received from our clients
- Research, resolution and follow up with taxing jurisdictions and internal teams as it relates to amended tax returns.
- Triage incoming issues/inquiries to identify trends and the need for engineering intervention
- Recommend and execute improvements to processes
- Knowledge of R&D, ERTC and other payroll tax credits to include how they are applied to an amended return
- Maintain internal resource center regarding payroll tax policies and procedures
- Execute changes to payroll tax processes and procedures along with key stakeholders in Engineering, Product, Finance, Customer Success, and Compliance
- Actively participate in the training of new team members and provide progress reports to the direct manager
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years team management experience in a similar role required (preferably with a payroll service provider)
- Minimum of 3+ years of hands on payroll tax amendment experience across a multi jurisdictional environment to include Federal, State and Locals required
- Process-driven while able to be resourceful and adaptable
- Technologically savvy; experience with utilizing multiple systems and software programs
- Experience with multi-state accounts for single large employer OR a large multi-employer doing business in multiple states required
- Tax filing and deposit experience required
- MasterTax experience
- American Payroll Association - FPC or CPP is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills to include Excel or Sheets experience
The base wage range for this position based in our Tampa, FL Office is targeted $122,000 - $134,200 per year

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
