About the Role

The Manager, Systems Engineering leads a team of professional Systems Engineers responsible for delivering consistent technical execution, strong customer outcomes, and measurable business impact across a defined region or segment.

This role balances people leadership, operational execution, and technical oversight. It exists to ensure Systems Engineering efforts stay aligned to business priorities while adapting to a market that continues to change rapidly.

Veeam has evolved beyond the legacy as a virtualization backup leader into a data resilience platform company. Customers now expect more than recovery—they expect confidence in their data as it becomes increasingly distributed, regulated, and consumed by analytics and AI initiatives. This role plays a direct part in that shift by developing teams that can guide customers through real change, not just product adoption.

What You’ll Do

Data underpins modern business. It drives operations, customer trust, compliance, and innovation. At the same time, it has become one of the most exposed parts of the enterprise due to ransomware, system failures, architectural sprawl, and accelerating AI adoption.

Data resilience is no longer a technical detail. It is a business requirement—and increasingly a prerequisite for responsible AI use.

This role ensures that Veeam’s strategy becomes execution. By building strong teams, improving how work gets done, and aligning technical engagement to real customer needs, the Manager, Systems Engineering directly influences customer success, partner effectiveness, and Veeam’s credibility in a market where resilient, trusted data is foundational to both security and innovation.

People Leadership & Team Effectiveness

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professional Systems Engineers, ensuring consistent productivity, quality, and results.
  • Manage performance with clarity and fairness, providing coaching that supports growth and accountability.
  • Build a team culture that values preparation, ownership, and customer impact.
  • Improve processes and execution consistency to help the team scale effectively.

Business & Operational Alignment

  • Align Systems Engineering activities to sales priorities, account strategies, and regional business plans.
  • Operate with sound judgment in day-to-day decisions, consulting leadership when scope or impact requires it.
  • Track progress against goals and adjust priorities as conditions change.
  • Ensure company initiatives are executed consistently and with purpose.

Technical & Strategic Oversight

  • Guide teams through complex technical and customer challenges, helping them navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point, ensuring architectural quality and alignment to Veeam’s data resilience strategy.
  • Ensure teams can clearly position how resilient, secure, and governed data enables cloud, analytics, and AI initiatives, not just recovery.
  • Share field insight that improves positioning, execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

Cross-Functional & Ecosystem Leadership

  • Partner closely with Sales Leadership to improve planning, prioritization, and execution.
  • Work across internal teams—including product, engineering, and alliances—to support customer and partner success.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, partners, and technology vendors.
    • Support partner-led opportunities where appropriate to extend reach and capability.
What You’ll Bring
    • 5+ years of experience in pre-sales systems engineering, solutions architecture, or enterprise technology roles.
    • Experience leading professional teams in pre-sales systems engineering, solutions architecture, or enterprise technology roles in a customer facing environment.
    • A track record of mentoring, performance management, and improving team effectiveness.
    • Broad understanding of enterprise infrastructure and data-centric technologies sufficient to guide and challenge technical teams.
    • Ability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes without relying on authority.
    • A mindset of curiosity, learning and innovation.
    • Clear, confident communication skills that keep teams aligned and focused.
    • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve.
    • Willingness to travel 50-75%.
