Sitting within the Group Strategy function, the Strategic Policy team shapes the Group’s position on a wide range of public policy topics that impact the Group’s strategy over the long term.
The team is highly collaborative, expert in cross-sector engagement, and thrives in the conditions of uncertainty and ambiguity that characterise complex public policy issues.
Do work that matters
The purpose of this role is to understand the important emerging problems and opportunities facing Australia where CBA is well-positioned to influence change. The team works across the Group and with a dynamic range of diverse external stakeholders to develop policy positions to drive positive change.
Your Responsibilities
- Research and insights: Undertake strategic policy research and analysis to understand emerging problems and opportunities from different perspectives.
- Policy, data and stakeholder analysis: Review and prepare analysis of public policy issues relevant to the Group’s strategic priorities, supporting the preparation of advice and recommendations for driving positive change.
- Project management: Manage the design, timelines and delivery of short- and longer-term projects within the strategic policy team, and across the Group.
- Coordination and collaboration: Work closely with Group Strategy teams and others across the Group to align work on strategic priorities.
- Leadership and culture: Help to develop the high performing culture of the Strategic Policy team that embraces the Group’s values, leadership principles and risk culture.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have
- Advanced research qualifications and/or experience in strategic research.
- Experience working on complex public policy reform and innovation.
- Familiarity with key developments taking place in public policy, in Australia and globally, and their impact on financial services.
- Effective quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, and their application to public policy issues.
- Ability to communicate with influence, including the preparation of written and verbal briefings, data visualisations and reports.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
