At Webster Bank, our activities are organized broadly around three distinct lines of business: the Consumer Bank, the Commercial Bank, and the Healthcare Bank. This position will be aligned with the Commercial Bank, reporting into the Commercial Administration organization.

Webster Bank is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Line of Business Data to drive the Commercial Bank's data strategy forward.

This senior leadership role is critical to the success of the Commercial organization's future. The role will be primarily responsible for Data Warehouse Management, Data Quality Management, Data Governance, and associated change management to advance the bank’s objectives.      

Responsibilities

  • Propose and execute a comprehensive data strategy for the Commercial Bank segment and aligned with the bank’s broader data strategy and goals.
  • Serve as a champion to drive the adoption, management, and optimization of data lakes, warehouses, and other data stores, ensuring robust data quality and governance across all platforms.
  • Adopt enterprise Chief Data Office (CDO) guidelines on data and data quality management, data governance practices, and standard IT change management processes.
  • Provide support for advanced analytics initiatives, self-service reporting, and data awareness for existing and new data-driven insights across the organization.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Commercial data and data-driven business processes.
  • Partner with CDO and Project Management Office (PMO) to articulate business needs (in data terms) and in planning and execution activities related to changing priorities, issues/concerns, and escalations.
  • Partner with CDO to ensure optimum usage of CDO-managed tools and data infrastructure.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, data literacy, and data ownership throughout the Commercial Bank.
  • Ensure internal audit and external regulatory requirements and best practices in data quality, data governance, and data retention.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team of data professionals.

Education, Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Preference of 5-10 years of experience in data strategy, governance, management / analytics, with a proven track record of delivering successful solutions in these areas.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth experience and working knowledge of data management, data quality management, metadata and data glossary management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and foster a data-driven mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and innovatively.
  • Experience with relevant tools and technologies, including data warehousing solutions (Snowflake), data glossary and governance solutions (e.g.; Hitachi Halo)
  • Proven experience establishing an enterprise-wide data and intelligence centered culture.

The estimated salary range for this position is $150,000 USD to $190,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
