JOB DESCRIPTION

Compensation

$64,000-$95,000

Purpose

The Merchandising Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the merchandising team by providing in-depth data analysis, insights, and recommendations that drive strategic decision-making. This role involves analyzing sales data, market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to optimize product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory management. The Analyst works closely with Merchandisers, Buyers, and other cross-functional teams to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights into merchandising performance.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales data, market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for product assortment optimization, pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models to predict future demand and optimize inventory levels.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to gather product information and samples.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to maximize ROI on merchandising activities.
  • Oversee and mentor merchandising team members, providing guidance and performance feedback.

Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros, and data analysis tools).
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, R, Python).
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of merchandising principles and practices.
  • Experience with retail or e-commerce platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of database management is a plus.

Bachelor's degree in related discipline or an additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
