We are seeking a Marketing + Business Development (MBD) Lead to support and implement the strategic marketing and business development efforts initially focused on the Science and Technology (S+T) sector. This role will lead and produce winning pursuit strategies, proposals, and collateral for S+T, while also contributing to Federal Government, Healthcare and Higher Education sectors as required. The position will be based in Toronto or Ottawa to align with the concentration of core client activity, though candidates from other Canadian studios will be considered.
The MBD Lead will “get it done” by working closely with the S+T Group Chair, other relevant Groups and Chairs, practice/region/discipline group members, marketing and communications team members, and other stakeholders to develop and execute a cohesive and integrated business development and marketing strategy.
Key responsibilities include understanding practice group, discipline, and regional priorities, and shaping conversations around the value of DIALOG’s integrated architecture, engineering, and planning services. You will collaborate with practice leaders, design teams, and the national marketing team to transform complex technical content into compelling proposals, presentations, and pursuit materials that position DIALOG as a national leader in innovation-driven impactful design.

How you'll make a difference:
- Develop a strong understanding of their practice group/s’ portfolio and team members.
- Work collaboratively with practice group/s and MBD team members to develop and execute upon a market strategy and an annual plan, with accountability for delivering upon priorities and revenue goals.
- Provide leadership and support on key pursuits in the practice groups, collaborating with regional marketing colleagues and project teams to develop winning submissions and collateral.
- Co-lead annual budget development and sales revenue targets with the practice group Chairs, and work with Financial Operations to track return on investment and other financial metrics.
- Support client relationship management efforts and lead knowledge management for the practice groups using DIALOG’s CRM platform.
- Develop and maintain a market pipeline report and maintain data on client cultivation and engagement tracking using DIALOG’s methods and tools.
- Locate and research mid-and long-term opportunities within the scope and geography of the practice group strategies making the pre-positioning phase of pursuits a differentiable advantage.
- Provide leadership for “go/no go analysis” for project pursuits with key clients in the market sector, helping groups make good decisions.
- Work with group members to prioritize and action award applications, project photography, conference participation, and client engagement events.
- In partnership with the Communications + Content team, develop a marketing and communications plan for the practice groups, inclusive of project and people promotion, milestones and key wins, awards, conferences, PR opportunities and storytelling.
- In addition to practice group responsibilities, a MBD Lead’s portfolio may also include other practice group/s, region/s and/or discipline/s to support as business and work evolves.

Who you are:
- You have 5+ years of experience in marketing and business development, especially in complex pursuits and proposals.
- You have 3+ years’ experience and knowledge in A/E industry or similar complex, B2B professional services industries knowledge and experience. Knowledge of the Science + Technology, Workplace, and Hospitality sectors is an asset.
- You possess a passion for meaningfully improving the wellbeing of our communities, through science and technology, workplace, and hospitality opportunities.
- You hold experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment, coordinating a broad range of stakeholders from senior-level partners to other design professionals and external consultants.
- You understand and can navigate the nuances of an RFP/RFQ/RFX and breakdown the requirements in logical and succinct manner.
