OpsMill is building the next generation of infrastructure data management, focusing on helping automation teams unify data and scale automation reliably. Our platform empowers network, infrastructure, NetDevOps, and IT automation teams to manage infrastructure intent data more flexibly, predictably, and safely. As a commercial open-source company, we are practitioners who understand the real-world challenges of scaling infrastructure automation.

We're at an inflection point. We've proven product-market fit with enterprise customers and built a thriving open-source community. Now we need a marketing leader who can scale what's working, build the systems and team to support rapid growth, and position OpsMill as the category leader in infrastructure data management. This is a hands-on executive role for someone who understands developer-led and product-led growth, has scaled commercial open-source companies, and knows how to reach technical audiences in infrastructure and networking.

This role reports to the COO and will be a key member of the executive team, partnering closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to drive market expansion and revenue growth.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Own end-to-end marketing strategy that supports our GTM Motion - align marketing with product roadmap and business goals, drive cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Product, and Developer Relations, and ensure marketing drives measurable pipeline and revenue

  • Define and evolve brand positioning - work with founders and product leaders to sharpen messaging that resonates across our diverse personas—from infrastructure engineers and network operators to VPs of Infrastructure and CTOs—and differentiate OpsMill in an emerging yet competitive market

  • Build and execute demand generation programs - drive lead generation, customer acquisition, and revenue growth through integrated campaigns spanning content marketing, SEO/SEM, email, paid channels, and partner marketing

  • Scale developer and community marketing - create programs that engage open-source contributors, grow community adoption, and build trust with technical audiences through authentic, value-driven engagement

  • Partner with Developer Relations to amplify community efforts - transform grassroots community momentum into strategic marketing motions, including events, webinars, content partnerships, and community-led advocacy

  • Lead product marketing excellence - craft compelling narratives that connect user pain to product value, develop launch strategies that create market momentum, and enable Sales with messaging and assets that win enterprise deals

  • Build and scale the marketing organization - hire exceptional talent, establish team structure and operating rhythms, mentor team members, and create a high-performance marketing culture

  • Manage budget strategically - allocate resources across staffing, tooling, agencies, branding, and programs to achieve high-impact outcomes that align with company growth objectives

What You Bring
  • Proven track record as a marketing leader (VP/CMO level) at high-growth DevOps, infrastructure SaaS, or platform engineering companies—you've been through the scaling journey

  • Deep understanding of developer-led and product-led growth motions, ideally in a commercial open-source environment—you know how to balance community building with commercial conversion

  • Experience building and executing GTM strategies for technical products targeting mid-market and enterprise customers—you understand complex buying processes and multi-stakeholder sales

  • Track record of building and nurturing technical communities—whether through CNCF, open-source ecosystems, or developer platforms—you know how to engage practitioners authentically

  • Exceptional storytelling ability—you translate complex technical concepts into compelling narratives that resonate with both practitioners and executives

  • Strong budget management experience—you've allocated marketing resources strategically across teams, tools, and programs to drive measurable business outcomes

  • Hands-on, data-driven operating style—you build systems and processes that scale, measure what matters, and optimize based on results

  • Executive leadership and communication skills—you can present to the board, align cross-functional stakeholders, and represent the company externally with confidence

Nice-to-Haves
  • Technical background in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering before transitioning into marketing—you've lived the practitioner experience

  • Experience scaling a company from product-market fit to Series B and beyond—you know the challenges and opportunities at each growth stage

  • Active contributor to open source or deep familiarity with open governance models—you understand open-core GTM strategies from the inside

  • Experience in networking, infrastructure automation, or NetDevOps markets—you already speak the language of our customers

  • Built marketing teams from scratch or through significant transformation—you're comfortable with ambiguity and building foundations
