MIM is the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc. ("MetLife") and provides public fixed income, private capital, and real estate investment solutions to institutional investors worldwide. As of March 31, 2025, MIM had $617 billion of total assets under management. The PABF team sits within MIM's Private Capital team which manages $148.2 billion (03/31/2025) in private corporates, asset-based finance, and infrastructure debt and is an industry leader in private debt with a 100+ year history of originating private debt.
The PABF team at MetLife Investment Management ("MIM") is responsible for investing in primarily in privately placed, non-broadly syndicated asset-based finance opportunities across a variety of sectors and deal types. The PABF team manages a portfolio of approximately $8.8 billion 03/31/2025) of asset-based transactions on behalf of MIM's affiliated and unaffiliated clients.
The Analyst will be an investment professional supporting the PABF team in the origination, execution, and management of primarily investment grade corporate private debt investment opportunities across a wide universe of industries and sectors. The Analyst will also support administrative, marketing, and data projects related to the PABF team. The role provides candidates with the opportunity to work and interact with various teams across MIM, including Corporates Infrastructure, Client Portfolio Management, Insurance Asset Management, Institutional Client Group, Sales Derivatives, Investment Operations, Legal, and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Origination & Portfolio Management
  • Execution:
    • Support ABF deal teams with underwriting and analysis, including drafting investment memos, executing trades and exploring new asset types and structures
    • Contribute to Investment Committee presentations
    • Oversee tasks associated with transaction closings
  • Diligence & Market Analysis:
    • Support the team's client and issuer origination initiatives, including preparation of presentation materials and conducting market analyses of opportunities
    • Participate in road shows, presentations, issuer and sponsor meetings, as well as due diligence sessions
    • Review offering memoranda, sell-side research, rating agency reports and methodologies, along with other pertinent documentation
    • Evaluate and synthesize legal structures with guidance from internal and external counsel
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Perform deal-level surveillance and portfolio management monitoring & reporting to senior leaders
    • Address client investment requests with the Client Portfolio Management team

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
  • Superior writing, analytical, and quantitative modeling skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Client-focused orientation and flexibility in a dynamic environment
  • Strong Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills including spreadsheets, complex formulas, pivot tables and graphs/charts
  • Motivated team player

Preferred:
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Math or any other related field of expertise
  • CFA® charterholder
  • Advanced business or accounting degree
  • Experience with credit underwriting and /or illiquid structured private placements
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and Salesforce

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
