Reporting to the Sales Director, the National Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, leading the overall customer relationship and growth strategy.

This role is responsible for building strong, collaborative partnerships at all levels of the customer organization, while driving sustainable revenue growth, expanding market share, and delivering against both sales and profitability objectives. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of each customer’s go-to-market strategy, as well as the ability to align internal resources to execute effectively.

As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, the National Account Manager will take full ownership of account performance and customer satisfaction, while working closely with internal partners and an Internal Account Manager to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the customer organization, positioning yourself as a trusted business partner

  • Manage a portfolio of national & regional accounts, balancing multiple priorities and customer needs effectively

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth, profitability, and increased market share

  • Lead joint business planning, including annual line reviews, product assortment, and program strategy

  • Develop a strong understanding of each customer’s go-to-market approach, identifying opportunities to align and grow the business

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Planning, Supply Chain, and Customer Support teams to optimize resources and execution

  • Oversee product listings, new item launches, and program performance across categories

  • Manage forecasting in partnership with both customer and internal teams to ensure accuracy and alignment

  • Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and proactively recommend actions to improve results

  • Ensure high levels of customer service and responsiveness, consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations

  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry and product trends

  • Travel as required to support customer meetings, store visits, and field insights

  • Provide guidance and direction to Internal Account Management support, fostering strong collaboration and teamwork

Leadership & Team Contribution

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to internal team members where applicable

  • Contribute to a team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on broader responsibilities when needed

  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives that support overall business growth and customer success

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Proven ability to manage multiple customers and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented and proactive approach

  • Strong business acumen, including financial analysis and sales planning

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to analyze data, identify insights, and translate them into actionable strategies

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills

  • High level of organization, accountability, and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in sales or key/national account management (consumer goods or retail preferred)

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering growth and building long-term customer partnerships

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to travel as required
