As a Senior NPI Supply Chain Leader, you will play a critical role in managing the end-to-end supply chain process for our optical components used in our network infrastructure products. In addition to coordinating and executing all supply chain activities related to new product introductions (NPI), you will focus on cost reduction initiatives and building strong relationships with suppliers within the optical components domain. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high-quality components while optimizing costs and fostering strong supplier partnerships.

  • NPI Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy for optical components, aligned with the company's overall business objectives. This includes defining sourcing strategies, optimizing inventory levels, and establishing supplier relationships with a focus on cost reduction and relationship building.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing partners, quality, and product management teams to understand product requirements and ensure seamless integration of optical components into our network infrastructure products. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define and drive supply chain milestones and deliverables, emphasizing cost optimization and supplier relationship building.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for optical components based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to achieve cost reduction targets. Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, addressing any issues or concerns promptly. Foster collaboration and open communication with suppliers to build long-term partnerships. Work closely with suppliers to understand their capabilities, explore joint improvement opportunities, and align on strategic goals’
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Identify and lead cost reduction initiatives within the NPI supply chain process. Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to explore opportunities for value engineering, design optimization, and process improvements that drive cost efficiencies without compromising quality or performance.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize supply chain disruptions while considering cost implications. Proactively monitor and manage supply chain risks, including demand fluctuations, component shortages, and logistics challenges, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the NPI supply chain process, with a specific focus on cost reduction and supplier relationship building. Leverage industry best practices and innovative solutions to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor the effectiveness of the NPI supply chain process, including cost reduction targets and supplier relationship metrics. Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate supply chain performance, cost savings achieved, supplier performance, and present recommendations to senior management.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8  to 10 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in the electronics or optical components industry.
  • Strong knowledge of optical components, their manufacturing processes, and associated supply chain challenges is preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing NPI supply chain activities, from concept to commercialization, with a focus on cost reduction and supplier relationship building.
  • Experience in supplier selection, negotiation, and relationship management, specifically emphasizing cost optimization and partnership development.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and cost analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools.

Pay Range:
 

The annual pay range for this position is $106,300 - $169,700 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
