Boeing Canada Operations Ltd. is seeking an Experienced or Senior Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, reporting to the EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Manager, working out of the Ottawa, ON, CFB Trenton, ON, or Petawawa, ON office. The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will join the Field operations team to support Canadian operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements and assesses occupational health and safety programs and processes to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Develops and leads training and instructions. Interprets and advises on the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations.

  • Evaluates and provides selection advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologies.

  • Leads audits, inspections and investigations and coordinates resolution of issues.

  • Develops corrective action plans to respond to internal/external audits and inspections.

  • Works with management to facilitate risk management decisions.

  • Analyzes emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working in the Health and Safety field

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or manufacturing environment

  • Experience in investigation, risk analysis, and safety program

  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, e.g., Human Rights Codes (HRC), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA)

  • Able and willing to travel up to 25% domestically

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Must be willing and eligible to work on Canadian government and defense-related programs

  • Must consent to Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment

  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods

  • Must be eligible for Secret Level II security clearance

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • 7+ years of experience working in the Health and Safety field

  • Post-secondary education in occupational health & safety, Environmental Health, or related discipline

  • Professional designation or equivalent certification

  • Experience with Workers Compensation claims management

  • Active Secret Level II Security Clearance

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Salary base pay range –

Experienced (Level 3) – $95,000 - $105,000 CAD

Senior (Level 4) - $114,000 - $126,000 CAD

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance Level II from the Canadian government. Requirements to obtain a secret security clearance can be found at:
