As a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test Lead, you will develop automation for testing microservices in the cloud.

As a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Working with engineering teams to identify how to test proposed changes.
• Developing and maintain automated test frameworks and test pipelines, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
• Creating and maintaining test plans and test cases for our compute services, ensuring they cover all relevant scenarios and edge cases.
• Writing and maintaining scripts to automate deployments, migrations and rollbacks.
• Investigating and troubleshooting complex issues, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for solutions.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to juniors, promoting best practices and ensuring that quality standards are met.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Have proficiency with Python and Pytest along with good understanding of modern testing methodologies along with working knowledge of Perl and golang.
• Have experience debugging across environments reproducing a failing test locally on x86 vs. ARM (native or emulated), isolating whether a failure is arch-specific
• Possess knowledge of Debian packaging along with QEMU's TCG vs KVM acceleration
• Possess expertise in cloud native infrastructure, and have an understanding of system internals and performance.
• Possess experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Github Actions, SaltStack.
• Have good Linux fundamentals, especially around performance tuning along with experience in Bash and scripting fundamentals.
• Have an understanding of modern software development life cycle processes and service level objective monitoring and alerting.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from 140,400 - 252,800 CAD/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
