Design end-to-end user experiences for the Confluent platform while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to improve user interaction and interface design.
The summary above was generated by AI

We’re not just building better tech. We’re rewriting how data moves and what the world can do with it. With Confluent, data doesn’t sit still. Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them.

It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together.

One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.

About the Role:

This role sits in the Platform design team. This team’s scope spans high-impact, horizontal product areas, including: Kafka, Trust & Security, Cloud Platform, Networking, Monetization, Observability, UI Platform, Navigation, and AI Assistant.

Your work will focus on:

  • Designing foundational, reusable patterns (navigation, resource management, settings, dashboards) that appear across Confluent Cloud.

  • Tackling complex, system-level UX problems where reliability, safety, and clarity are critical.

  • Working on data-rich, configuration-heavy experiences, where good data visualization and information architecture are key.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, TPMs, and other designers to shape the long-term user experience of Confluent’s platform.

What You Will Do:
  • Design end-to-end flows and interfaces for platform experiences such as observability, billing, and monetization.

  • Create clear data visualizations (dashboards, charts, tables, timelines) that help users understand the state and health of their systems, usage, and configurations.

  • Work within and contribute to Confluent’s design system, ensuring consistency across multiple product areas while evolving patterns as the platform grows.

  • Participate in discovery and research with PMs, Eng partners, and user researchers: framing problems, mapping journeys, exploring concepts, and running or supporting usability tests.

  • Turn complex technical and business requirements into simple, approachable UX for the Developer and the Operators personas.

  • Collaborate in a highly cross-functional, global environment, aligning with adjacent teams and representing user needs in planning and prioritization.

  • Show up as an easy-going, humble, and collaborative teammate: open to feedback, generous with your own, and focused on collective outcomes over individual ego.

What You Will Bring:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer / UX Designer working on web-based products, ideally in B2B or SaaS.

  • Demonstrated experience designing data-heavy or analytical interfaces, including thoughtful use of charts, tables, and information hierarchy.

  • Experience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers to ship features from discovery through implementation and iteration.

  • Comfort using and extending a design system, and working with shared patterns across multiple surfaces or product areas.

  • A portfolio that clearly explains your design process, problem framing, options explored, and the impact of your work.

  • Strong communication skills and a low-ego, collaborative working style; you enjoy pairing with others, learning from feedback, and adapting your approach.

  • Based in Canada, with the ability to work effectively with North America–based and Europe-based teams and occasional travel for team onsites (1–2 times per quarter).

  • Experience with platform, infrastructure, admin, or billing tools, or prior work in cloud, developer tooling, observability, or security domains, is a plus.

  • Familiarity with data visualization UX best practices and tools.
