The Product Manager would support the Product & Commercial Solutions team on developing and taking to market products for Telesat Lightspeed (Low Earth Orbit satellite) network.


We are looking for someone who is analytical and self-starting to be the product manager for our Customer Platform API. The Customer API together with the Customer Portal aim to enable customers to manage their products, services and resources, in a self-service and automated fashion. The objective of the Customer API is to offer API-driven open-standard based automation to customers, at business and operational levels, eliminating and reducing custom integration and manual processes for both ends.


The role involves aligning the Customer API requirements with existing and future business initiatives while adapting to technological trends. The Product Manager will also be involved in other fast paced projects that come to the Product & Commercial Solutions team as they work with the engineering, sales and marketing to launch the next generation satellite service.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the definition and development of Customer API
  • Perform competitive analysis and conduct ongoing market research on Customer API for wholesale connectivity product and services automation
  • Conduct market research to identify patterns and trends that inform product strategies, research customers to gather data and analyze customer behavior
  • Document business requirements and associated test plans for Customer API
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, engineering, sales, marketing, support) to execute the product roadmap
  • Assist in vendor evaluation and selection, once selected work with vendor through the Customer API development process
  • Work with internal teams and vendor to ensure the customer API is intuitive, useful and provides a meaningful user experience
  • Ensure alignment of Customer APIs with Customer Portal, and the business processes objectives using them
  • Identify opportunities for Customer API improvements and make recommendations based on research findings
  • Coordinate development of Customer API documentation for customers including user guides, FAQs, etc.
  • Support other products and commercial proposals
  • Validate market trends and customer feedback to define product requirements service packages for different customer segments
  • Support product go-to-market initiatives through creation of sales materials and marketing communications materials (whitepapers, training material, presentations, etc.)

Additional Skills:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive products to inform product strategies.
  • Product Management: Strong organizational skills to manage the product development lifecycle, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • UX/UI Principles: Knowledge of user experience and user interface design to ensure API are intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Technical Proficiency: Understanding of API development, RESTful services, JSON schema, and related technologies.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and opportunities for improvement, and develop effective solutions.
  • Customer Focus: Strong understanding of customer needs and the ability to design products that provide a meaningful user experience.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in evaluating and working with vendors to ensure product quality and alignment with business goals.

Experience and Education required:

  • 3-6 years experience in a similar role with a Telecommunications background or familiarity in telecommunications, i.e. fixed, wireless or satellites networks, including knowledge of BSS (Business Support Systems) and OSS (Operational Support Systems).
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • API Development/Usage: Hands-on experience with developing or using APIs, particularly in a customer-facing context, including through customer portals
  • API Standards: Familiarity with industry standards such as OpenAPI, TMF, MEF and LSO.
  • Tools: Familiarity with OpenAPI, Swagger, Postman scripts, REST API, JSON schema, and GitHub.
  • Documentation: Ability to create comprehensive documentation for APIs, including user guides, developer guides and FAQs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven track record of working with diverse teams (IT, engineering, sales, marketing, support) to achieve product goals.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools like Jira
