Production Associate, 1st/2nd Stage (3:30 pm – 12:00 midnight)

The Production Associate, 1st/2nd Stage will be responsible for assembly, inspection and repair processes involved in the manufacture of CWDS products.  The successful candidate must be experienced in the handling of chemicals, components, tolling, soldering and de-soldering equipment and machines.

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary Range: $41,300 - $55,000 plus 10% shift premium

Your Challenge:

  • Install, align, fasten, and secure PTH or press fit components, mask components in preparation for wave, wire wrap, and help with Wash as required

  • Operate equipment efficiently following defined work schedule

  • Identify and report damages, missing, or incorrect parts to the appropriate supervisor or lead hand

  • Follow work instructions, drawings, diagrams, and specifications

  • Follow established procedures for quality, safety, productivity, and material handling

  • Meet expected production and quality targets

  • Record production information or complete paperwork/system entries

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Responsible for all material handling duties

  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet production schedules

  • Attend daily production tier meetings

  • Support yield improvement projects

  • Willing to support shift rotations as required

  • Participate in the corporate Curtiss Wright Way Lean training program

  • May contribute as a member of the Spill team, First Aid team and/or Health and Safety committee

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma

  • College certificate/diploma in areas such as manufacturing, mechanical engineering technology or electrical technology is considered an asset

  • 2+ years of manufacturing or assembly experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools

  • Ability to read work instructions, blueprints, diagrams, or assembly drawings

  • Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality

  • Knowledge of defect recognition for workmanship standards and requirements

  • Experience removing and replacing PTH or Fine pitch surface mount devices

  • Experience working with formal procedures and supporting documents

  • Experience within a PWB assembly environment, preference given to direct experience working with SMT and PTH components under a microscope

  • Experience using soldering equipment – soldering irons, hot-air rework stations, tweezers, microscopes and related hand tools

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, multi-task and respond quickly to changes in the build schedule

  • Experience with BGA and CGA type component removal and replacement would be an asset

  • Experience working with ERP systems is considered an asset

  • SAP knowledge is considered an asset

  • Manufacturing, mechanical, electrical or industrial training is considered an asset

  • Certification in IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 is preferred

  • Experience applying ECOs to circuit cards is considered an asset

  • Experience with the rework process of circuit cards is considered an asset
