The Telfer School of Management invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in accounting. Applications from candidates at all ranks will be considered, with an anticipated start date of July 1st, 2027.

Title of Position: Professor in accounting. The rank is commensurate with experience.

Duties: Academic staff functions include, in varying proportions: teaching, research, and academic service activities.

Scholarly and research activities: develop and maintain an active research agenda in the field of accounting and related areas such as auditing.

Teaching activities: teaching, as assigned, at the undergraduate and graduate levels; supervise in graduate programs, as required.

Academic service activities: The candidate will be an active member of the Accounting and Finance section. Administrative duties will be agreed upon with the section and the Dean.

Preferences:

Preference will be given to candidates with strong ability to teach in both official languages (French and English) and who hold a Canadian CPA designation.

Terms: New tenure-track position.

Wage: The salary scale for an assistant professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Skills requirements:

Education: Ph.D. in Accounting or in a related discipline. Candidates close to completion may also be considered.

Experience:

  • Commensurate with experience, demonstrate a strong record of, or clear potential for, strong scholarly research as evidenced by publications, competitive funding, and a well-articulated research program.
  • Demonstrated, or strong potential for, teaching excellence. Demonstrated ability to teach Auditing and/or Taxation in French at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrate commitment to, or strong potential for, service, including committee work, curriculum development, or student-centered activities, among others.

Language: Excellent communication skills in French. Passive knowledge of one’s second official language (English) is a requirement for tenure. English-French bilingualism is an asset.
