The PR Lead for the Americas will strengthen Thoughtworks’ reputation across the US, Canada and Latin America by driving proactive media engagement and amplifying our brand in key regional markets. 

Reporting to the global director of PR & editorial content, you will act as the region’s press office, monitoring the news cycle, building strong journalist relationships and securing agenda-setting media opportunities.

This role requires fluency in English and a working understanding of Spanish and Portuguese to effectively engage with regional media and adapt global narratives to local markets. 

You will collaborate with agency partners, regional leaders and field marketing teams to uncover client stories, respond to emerging issues and position Thoughtworks as a trusted voice in technology and digital innovation.

As part of this role, you will be expected to work from the Toronto office once a week and from the New York office once per quarter.

Job responsibilities

PR, media relations & reputation management

  • Lead regional PR and media engagement across the US, Canada and Latin America.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and (digital) influencers across business, tech and trade media.
  • Run the regional press office, managing inbound requests, proactive pitching and rapid response to breaking news.
  • Monitor the regional news agenda to identify opportunities for commentary, op-eds and agenda-setting stories.
  • Ensure consistent, timely and localized messaging aligned with global priorities and inclusive of diverse regional perspectives.
  • Manage and brief PR agency partners, ensuring high-quality execution and ROI.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure PR campaign effectiveness, generate insights, and continuously optimize strategies.

Editorial & storytelling

  • Surface regional client successes, case studies and market insights for global content programs.
  • Partner with content and editorial teams to adapt global stories for regional resonance.
  • Draft press releases, media statements and reactive commentary in collaboration with subject matter experts.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Partner with regional leadership, field marketing and delivery teams to align PR with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with the global director of PR & editorial content on integrated strategies.
  • Work with Legal and Internal Comms as needed on sensitive issues or reputational risks.
Job qualifications
Technical Skills
  • Fluent English speaker with professional working understanding of Spanish and Portuguese.
  • 8–10+ years of PR/media relations experience, ideally across North and Latin America.
  • Proven experience leveraging social media for PR campaigns and building relationships with digital influencers.
  • Strong track record of securing impactful media coverage and managing press office activity.
  • Understanding of SEO and AIO (Artificial Intelligence Optimization) principles and how PR contributes to digital presence.
  • Proficiency in PR measurement tools and a data-driven approach.
  • Awareness of emerging PR technologies and trends, including the application of AI for media monitoring, content insights, and efficiency.
  • Experience managing PR agencies and budgets.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills; able to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Journalistic instincts with ability to monitor and react quickly to the news agenda.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.
