Job Description

The Junior Quality Assurance Engineer helps to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our software products. This individual works closely with engineering, product, and design teams to define quality standards, identify risks early, and work on manual testing practices that scale with the product. This role suits someone who is detail‑oriented, technically curious, and passionate about building high‑quality software. 

This is a full-time position, working in a hybrid model, and reporting to our Ottawa office at least 3-4 days a week. The target compensation package for this role is between CAD 80K and 100K, subject upon internal equity and years of experience.  We may make further adjustments through an approval process if the targeted compensation range needs to be modified based on business needs and market trends.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Understand Sectigo’s technical product specifications and test requirements. 
  • Own testing for features, products, and delivery. 
  • Troubleshoot issues down to the root cause and provide detailed bug reports. 
  • Own all test results for each test suite and provide a high-level summary for areas tested. 
  • Collaborate with engineers and development team members to design overall test infrastructure. 
  • Develop and enhance QA tools to support testing. 
  • Write test suits and test case documentation. 
  • Discover, report, and verify issues in test documentation. 
  • Additional tasks associated with this position may be assigned in response to company initiatives and business needs. 

Qualifications

Wducation: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Development, or equivalent work experience is preferred. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in QA testing and test automation is required. Ideally 1 to 3+ years of direct experience is preferred. 
  • Experience with Java programming language is required. 
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and demonstrated experience with REST API testing/automation is strongly recommended. 

Talents and Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of QA best practices, principles, and methodologies. 
  • Ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment, highly accurate and detail-oriented mindset. 
  • Willingness to learn in a hands-on work environment, collaboration and problem-solving skills with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with team members. 
  • Good to have system administrative background. 
  • Proficient in designing/creating Automation Frameworks. 
  • Execute functional, regression, and integration testing using tools such as TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, and others. 
  • Utilize Playwright and/or Selenium for UI automation testing. 
  • Apply AI-driven testing approaches where applicable to enhance test coverage and efficiency. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills - speaking in English is a must. 
  • Ability to thrive in a global fast-paced and deadline-driven environment with frequently changing priorities.
