Job Description - Role Responsibilities

On behalf of our client within the Federal Government we are recruiting for a Senior QA Specialist/Analyst to work on testing of BI Reports and Data assets. Our client has recently migrated the BI environment from Cognos to Power BI/Microsoft BI stack and this role will be focused on testing/QA to validate functionality of reporting systems, data accuracy and business alignment.

The required Quality Assurance and Testing work will include:

·           Test planning and coordination including the creation and documentation of test plans; test scenarios, test scripts, test summary reports and other documents as required;

·           Conducting functional, performance and accessibility testing of applications;

·           Management and monitoring of test plans for all levels of testing;

·           Management of walkthroughs and reviews related to testing and implementation readiness;

·           Establishing software testing procedures for integration testing and regression testing;

·           Establishing and operating "interoperability" testing procedures to ensure that the interaction and co-existence of various software elements, which are proposed to be distributed on the common infrastructure, conform to appropriate departmental standards (e.g., For performance, compatibility, etc.) and have no unforeseen detrimental effects on the shared infrastructure;

·           Establishing a validation and verification capability which assumes functional and performance compliance;

·           Capturing and communicating test results as requested by the Project Authority (e.g., in Azure Devops, Test status and summary reports, wiki and SharePoint documentation, etc.); and

·           Status reporting.

Technical Training or Experience:

·            Planning and conducting Quality assurance and testing activities for BI/Reporting systems and dataassets, including experience conducting each of the following tasks:

o   organizing and scheduling testing efforts including the required testing resources;

o   executing system integration tests;

o   executing specialized tests; and

o   executing user acceptance tests.

·           Experience with:

o   SharePoint Online

o   Power BI Service

o   Microsoft Data & Analytics Stack

o   Power BI Desktop

o   Azure Synapse Analytics Workspaces

o   Azure Machine Learning Workspaces

o   Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2

 Lived Experience:

·        The role will have a close relationship with the Indigenous Community in Canada and for Government of Canada positions that are part of the PSIB-Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business or IPP-Indigenous Participation Plans. Candidates will be required to attest to their Indigenous Citizenship/Membership and provide verification through documentation.
