Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Quality Assurance Analyst (Manual Tester). In this role, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and execution of test cases for the Applied Payments division. As a Senior Quality Analyst, you will leverage software engineering best practices to provide information, feedback, and expertise about software quality and development processes to deliver defect-free applications. You will work with a software development team to oversee the automation of high-impact test cases.
What You'll Do

  • Form an in-depth understanding of how the system works today, its various components, and how it can be tested
  • Create and maintain reliable M anual T est C ases that can be repeatedly executed to ensure expected outcomes
  • Exhibit hands-on knowledge in developing test cases using modern tools such as Xray
  • Provide in-depth analysis to resolve technical issues, anticipate risks, and ensure timely management escalation
  • Work with stakeholders to plan, estimate , and implement manual test strategies
  • Maintain and update technical documentation relating to test architecture, design steps, integration processes, or procedures.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, release planning, retrospectives, and reviews
  • Ensure each work item has high-quality acceptance criteria, and ensure that all criteria are met before release
  • Provide feedback during test automation demos to ensure tests adhere to quality assurance principles


What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Ability to go to the office approximately once a week in Chicago, Salt Lake City , or Toronto


Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Analyst at an enterprise level
  • 5+ years experience as a Manual Tester
  • Experience testing web applications beyond just the front end, using tools such as Postman to test back-end services
  • Experience with SQL Server or other databases
  • Working knowledge of microservices, cloud computing, and related technologies, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Possess a strong work ethic and can deliver solutions under a tight deadline
  • Proven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities
  • S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

Additionally, you may have:

  • Experience with Agile frameworks, ideally Scrum or Kanban using tools like Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with DevOps (Git, Docker, Kubernetes , Terraform, Deployment Pipelines, Observability Tools)
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Cypress a plus
  • Insurance industry exposure
