Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be a member of the Hardware Engineering department, with a focus on defect investigation, root cause analysis, statistical monitoring, and procedure/documentation updating & revision control.

This engineer will work closely with the Production team and with the Sales, Applications, Marketing, & Support team, but will not be subject to orders and instructions from either, thus creating a dedicated QA channel independent of production operations. All failures of production and pre-production equipment, whether minor or major, will be documented and assessed by this engineer and discussed with the Hardware Engineering team. Likely root causes and possible solutions will then be communicated to the relevant vendors and to IPG support and production staff. The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for updating and/or reviewing instructions, drawings, procedures, etc. to reflect these solutions, and for ensuring that they are properly communicated to staff. This will lead towards partial, and eventually full, implementation of a full Quality Management System tuned to match IPG Canada’s products and operations.
