The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.
Job Description
The Director of Finance reports to the Administration Co-captain and is responsible for the team’s banking, budgeting, and financial reporting. They work with other Directors and project Leads to make sure that their areas have the funding they need, including managing the team’s revenue (such as student fee funds, grants, sponsorships, and donations) and expenditures (including parts orders).
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain all financial records and receive all money due to Queen’s VEX U Robotics Team.
- Coordinate income from all revenue sources.
- Be responsible for the completion of all necessary budgets and other financial reports.
- Be responsible for handling the delivery of parts, robots, and equipment according to Team needs.
The Director of Finance can expect to gain skills in the areas of:
- Project Management
- Budgeting
Time commitment ranges from 1-10 hours a week
