The R&D Engineering Manager leads cross-functional teams in new product development, managing design processes, project timelines, and team performance to align with strategic goals.
Responsibilities:Product Strategy and Planning :
- Collaborate with Strategic Business Management to develop and implement a strategic roadmap for new product development that aligns with the company’s vision and goals.
Product Development Management :
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development of new products from ideation to launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee the product design process, collaborating with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative and high-quality products.
- Manage the product development lifecycle, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and production.
- Oversee the Bethlehem R&D laboratory budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and efficient resource allocation.
- Manage project scheduling and test stand availability to optimize lab operations and meet project timelines.
- Coordinate resources and capacity planning to support the laboratory’s operational and strategic needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional New Product Development labs for knowledge and skill transfer.
Cross-functional Collaboration :
- Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with regulatory, legal, and compliance teams to ensure products meet all industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with product management to ensure product requirements, features, and financials are in strategy.
Leadership and Team Management :
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 8-12 engineers to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives, performance goals, and development plans for team members.
- Drive a customer-centric approach to product development, ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field
- 8 years Engineering experience.
- 20% Travel, Domestic and International.
Preferred Experience / Skills :
- Experience leading teams in product development, product management, or a related role.
- Proven track record of successfully launching new products and managing cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with product development projects, ensuring proactive risk management.
- Proven ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional development and building a high-performing team.
- Knowledge of Agile or Lean product development methodologies.
