The Record to Report Product Manager oversees financial technology systems, drives automation in financial processes, and collaborates with stakeholders to enhance product strategy and execution.

The Role
The Record to Report Product Manager role is part of the Product organization responsible for Financial technology systems across Block, including Finance and Strategy (F&S), Controllership, Tax, Treasury and Procurement. In this role, you will work with senior business stakeholders to understand and define the requirements for transforming how our financial systems function to enable our next wave of growth. Identifying automation opportunities by improving the underlying financial data platforms to enable AI and automation capabilities will be key to success. Key outcomes of this work will be automating our monthly close process, building new data products to provide our F&S team with higher quality data more quickly, and working across multiple business unit reconciliation processes to improve overall GL health. This position will work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with aggressive timelines and often competing priorities. The candidate must have a solid foundation and understanding of finance fundamentals including planning, reporting, and analytics. This position will be asked to challenge the status quo and envision new ways of working that can be instantiated in our financial technology platforms (both existing and not-yet-imagined). The position will work across functional teams to identify dependencies and bring attention to risks associated with the work of other functional teams. Business partnerships and communication will be critical across the F&S, Controllership, Tax, and other Finance organizations.
Success in this role will require creativity to re-imagine possible future processes that will enable our ability to scale through automation. The scope will include a range of financial planning requirements that will improve or create operational processes and automate key steps.
In addition, this role will be a leader in our Product function and help drive greater maturity of our Product model. This includes defining and managing success metrics, OKRs, roadmap definition & delivery, and mentoring junior Product Managers.

- Represent the business point of view when designing and collaborating with other Product and Engineering teams, including integration partners
- Provide critical input and insight into planning system requirements based on prior experience, process knowledge and future state vision
- Participate in internal process improvement initiatives to improve planning, reporting, analytics, and technical aspects of F&S processes
- Defines and owns the roadmap for Record to Report without much guidance
- Aligns team's output with company objectives and knows when to escalate if necessary
- Scope of role entails being the DRI for decisions and customer experiences that affect outcomes and strategy at a company level.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations, high-level context, and playing with data is essential
- Works through thorny problems that have a large strategic/business impact with minimal guidance
- Determines product strategy in the RTR space with minimal guidance
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and normal / existing work
- Drives clarity & alignment with large cross-functional teams through excellent communication
- Effectively communicates difficult prioritization decisions, articulating a clear rationale to cultivate buy in.
- Effectively motivates and inspires product teams + key stakeholders with a compelling articulation of product strategy and vision
- Excellent at building alignment across teams in the context of deep, meaningful relationships across Guidance Automation.
- Strong ability to influence others during sensitive situations without damaging meaningful relationships.

You Have:
- 8+ years of operational experience in managing accounting and finance business processes
- Ability to understand complex business intent, identify gaps between current and desired future state, translate business requirements into required system functionality, and determine best viable path to meet current and future business needs while considering delivery time and tradeoffs for each decision
- 8+ years of experience in developing strategies and launching data platform product capabilities
- Experience in a highly complex global organizations operating within large-scale ERP systems
- Broad knowledge of industry-standard Finance management practices and success leading organizations through an Agile transition, or successful use of Agile practices to regularly ship remarkable products with increasing velocity
- Ability to remain adaptable and flexible. Open to continuous change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and working in an ambiguous business environment
- Beginner's mindset and ability to serve as a champion for the Finance Automation team by communicating, advocating, and championing upcoming changes to impacted stakeholders.
- Ability to influence executive leadership, and to communicate comfortably and concisely to audiences at every level and in every role within the company
