We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Regional HR Manager to join our People team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Operations, you will be responsible for supporting our retail stores in British Columbia and will work closely with Store Managers and Union Representatives to find solutions to labour and employee relations issues.

You will be responsible for:

Human Resources Leadership:

  • Partnering with Retail Operations to provide strategic leadership and direction to the store management teams.
  • Participating in regional succession planning.
  • Collaborating with corporate HR to align regional HR initiatives with company-wide objectives and policies.
  • Communicating key People (HR) messages and programs to store management teams.
  • Supporting the successful implementation of People (HR) initiatives, training, policies, and information systems.
  • Proactively working with store teams on process improvements in areas of employee relations, engagement, conflict resolution and workforce management.
  • Supporting and advising managers in preparation for difficult conversations.
  • Mentoring store management on building relationships with shop stewards and union representatives.
  • Advising management of potential employee issues and overseeing the investigation required to successfully work through employee issues.

Labour Relations Management:

  • Supporting store management on adhering to the terms of the collective agreement.
  • Working with union representatives on the management of labour issues including grievance management and addressing day to day inquires.
  • Preparing and presenting cases to an Arbitrator in a Troubleshooter format without legal counsel.

Employee Relations:

  • Addressing and resolving complex employee concerns and disputes, ensuring adherence to employment laws and company policies.
  • Advising management of potential employee issues and either overseeing or conducting the investigation required to successfully work through employee issues, including formal complaints.
  • Providing advice and support to management in handling employee-related issues.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyzing HR metrics data and trends to identify potential issues and recommend proactive strategies for improvement.
  • Supporting store management on improving employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention through the annual engagement survey results.

Training and Development:

  • Delivering training programs and workshops for management on labour and employee relations policies and practices.
  • Supporting employee development initiatives within the region.

You have:

  • Five (5) years of recent related experience in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A Post Secondary Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR) designation is an asset.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations including facilitating interviews or meetings, drafting letters, performance improvement plans, and other corrective actions.
  • Knowledge in the following labour relations areas: arbitration, mediation, grievance handling, human rights complaints.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) applications.
  • The ability to travel on an as-needed basis (Driver's License required).

Compensation Details:

$76,800.00 - $102,400.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
