Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

50,900 - 62,200

About the role

We’re looking for a Risk Underwriter (Risk Analyst) to join our growing Trade Credit team!

This is a 6-month contract role with possibility of extension.

 

In this role, you will work with the risk underwriting team to facilitate trade for our Trade Credit clients.

What you'll do here:

  • Contribute to the buyer review process.  You will be assigned a portfolio of buyers to review, assess and provide credit recommendations.

  • Ensure credit analysis is consistent with the risk assessment analysis structure and risk management guidelines and applicable rules.

  • Responsible for providing timely and effective communication with commercial underwriters as well as brokers where required.

  • Contribute to the success of the Trade Credit Strategic Plan, including but not limited to new business, business retention, creating buyer capacity and maintaining buyer relationships. 

  • Partner with various internal subject matter experts to determine if transactions are viable and to mitigate risks.

  • Support performance and growth by helping to set underwriting policies, standards and guidelines, ensuring adherence, leading continuous improvement activities and delivering product enhancements and new products.

  • Build your professional network in order to strengthen and deepen risk analysis and understanding of the various industries in which we have credit exposure.
     

What you bring to the table:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or any combination of education and experience deemed relevant for the role.

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in financial statement analysis, commercial lending, commercial underwriting or related financial services experience.

  • Knowledge of underwriting and/or financial transaction structuring.

  • Experience leading and supporting the successful completion of increasingly complex commercial credit transactions across a variety of industry sectors and international markets.

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

  • MBA, CFA, CPA designation an asset.

  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
