We are seeking a driven Sales Executive to support the growth of Morningstar Sustainalytics across the Americas. This is a high-impact role suited for a motivated, curious, and results-oriented seller eager to build a career in financial services and sustainable investing.

You will be responsible for managing and expanding a defined territory, developing new business opportunities, and growing existing client relationships across corporate clients, asset managers, banks, and other institutional investors.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of ESG, data, and investment decision-making, while collaborating with a high-performing, global sales and client success organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a territory and book of business across the Americas, including both existing clients and new prospects.

  • Drive new business development through proactive outreach, pipeline generation, and opportunity management.

  • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualification through negotiation, closing, and renewal.

  • Partner with Client Success and product teams to ensure a seamless client experience and identify expansion opportunities.

  • Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders across mid-market asset managers, corporates, and financial institutions.

  • Represent Morningstar Sustainalytics at industry events, conferences, and client meetings (virtually and in person).

  • Maintain strong market awareness, including ESG trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in sales, business development, or client-facing roles (preferably within financial services, data, or SaaS).

  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive, quota-driven environment.

  • Strong interest in ESG, sustainable finance, and investment markets.

  • Ability to communicate complex solutions clearly and deliver value-based, consultative sales conversations.

  • Proven ability to manage a pipeline and prioritize effectively across a large and diverse territory.

  • High level of motivation, resilience, and eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams and geographies.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Fluency in English required; Spanish or French is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, environmental studies, or a related field.

Preferred Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Curiosity and willingness to develop expertise in ESG and sustainable investing

  • Ability to build relationships quickly and establish credibility with clients

  • Comfortable operating in a global, matrixed organization

Location

Toronto (with coverage across the Americas region)

If you receive and accept an offer from us, we require that personal and any related investments be disclosed confidentiality to our Compliance team (days vary by region). These investments will be reviewed to ensure they meet Code of Ethics requirements. If any conflicts of interest are identified, then you will be required to liquidate those holdings immediately. In addition, dependent on your department and location of work certain employee accounts must be held with an approved broker (for example all, U.S. employee accounts). If this applies and your account(s) are not with an approved broker, you will be required to move your holdings to an approved broker.

Morningstar's hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to collaborate in-person each week as we've found that we're at our best when we're purposely together on a regular basis. In most of our locations, our hybrid work model is four days in-office each week. A range of other benefits are also available to enhance flexibility as needs change. No matter where you are, you'll have tools and resources to engage meaningfully with your global colleagues.
