Role Overview

The Scientific Solutions Engineer is a technical member of the Pre-Sales team, supporting Seqera’s customer evaluations and sales engagements. This role is designed for an early-career professional with strong bioinformatics knowledge, technical curiosity, and enthusiasm for working with customers.

In this position, you will work closely with Account Executives and other technical team members to lead customer discovery, prepare and deliver Seqera Platform demos, and support proof-of-concept (POC) implementations. You’ll be expected to quickly develop the ability to independently deliver compelling demonstrations and guide customer engagements, while continuing to expand your expertise in Nextflow workflows and modern bioinformatics practices.

This role requires hands-on bioinformatics experience, a strong interest in working with customers, and the ability to clearly demonstrate the value of the Seqera Platform and Nextflow.
This role is open to folks on the East Coast of the US or Canada, as well as Spain.

  • Design solutions that address customer challenges using Seqera capabilities.

  • Prepare and deliver standard and customized Seqera Platform demonstrations tailored to customer use cases.

  • Maintain demo environments, example workflows, and supporting materials.

POC Implementations
  • Support POC deployments, assisting with setup and configuration.

  • Demonstrate POC use cases to customers and lead training and troubleshooting sessions.

  • Capture technical outcomes and provide actionable feedback to internal teams.

Content Development
  • Develop technical documentation, demo scripts, and best-practice workflow templates.

  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing resources for customers and internal teams.

Customer Engagement
  • Act as the product expert and technical liaison throughout the pre-sales process.

  • Partner with Sales, Professional Services, and Scientific Development to ensure smooth customer handoffs from pre- to post-sales.

Required Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
  • Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.

  • 1–3 years of relevant industry experience in a technical pre-sales, services, or bioinformatics role (e.g. at a software vendor, LIMS provider, or biotech company).

  • Demonstrated academic or project-based experience with bioinformatics workflows.

Technical Skills
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Nextflow.

  • Experience with cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) or HPC environments.

  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix and at least one programming language (Python, R, etc.).

  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker/Singularity) and version control (Git).

Other Attributes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Collaborative mindset and interest in cross-functional teamwork.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to the Seqera Platform and nf-core pipelines.
