Job Description

As a Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting, you will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of CPP Investments’ financial reporting processes. You will assist in the preparation of consolidated and legal entity financial statements, apply, and interpret accounting policies and guidelines, and support the execution of special projects aimed at enhancing financial reporting efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Description

The Group Accounting & Reporting team is part of the Financial Policy and Reporting (FP&R) department, responsible for accurately consolidating financial data across all CPP Investments entities and delivering timely, compliant, and insightful financial reporting. The team leads the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, ensuring adherence to international accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The team also supports strategic initiatives and projects, proactively addressing financial reporting implications associated with new products, investments, and evolving processes, thereby driving continuous improvement and financial excellence.

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, including note disclosures in accordance with Internal Financial Reporting Standards, and Audit Committee presentation materials as needed.
  • Support external reporting requirements by preparing/reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual investment and financial schedules, reconciliations, and audit requests relating to financial statements and accounting controls.
  • Work closely with various departments that impact or contribute to the timely and accurate production of Financial Statements, to review and analyze supporting schedules and seek ways to improve current reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to standardize and automate financial statement preparation and reporting processes.
  • Develop and maintain and help update proper documentation of financial reporting processes and controls, including workflows, source information, frequency, and purpose of the process.
  • Support special projects, cross functional initiatives, and/or ad hoc reporting as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field (i.e., Finance, Accounting, Business, etc.)
  • 3+ year of relevant experience in investment management, pension fund or financial services industry
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and the ability to quickly grasp internal controls over financial reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
