The Senior Business Analyst designs business solutions by gathering stakeholder requirements, collaborating with teams, conducting analysis, and supporting the implementation of products and services.
Key Role
The Senior Business Analyst works on a diverse and broad spectrum of moderate-to-high complexity business and technology initiatives to define and design comprehensive business solutions in response to business priorities and stakeholder requirements.
This role requires a strong blend of business analysis, systems thinking, and technical acumen, along with a consultative approach to working with our business and technology stakeholders. You will work closely with product, engineering, architecture, and data teams, requiring the ability to understand existing systems, integrations, and constraints, and to clearly articulate requirements that support scalable and sustainable solutions. You will need to have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to listen, allowing you to efficiently decipher business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, research, analyse, and document sponsor/stakeholder requirements in accordance with project life cycle methodologies being utilized, and including standard reporting tools, requirements gathering methodologies, process models, data analysis, GUI/report designs, demos, and prototypes;
- Facilitate requirements elicitation with business and technology stakeholders, including workshops, interviews, and working sessions
- Conduct end-to-end process, system, and data flow analysis, including upstream/downstream impacts and integrations
- Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs, continually exploring and assessing options for enhanced value to our subscribers;
- Collaborate closely with delivery teams to clarify requirements, support solution design, and resolve ambiguities during development
- Define and execute UAT plans while ensuring acceptance criteria are satisfied;
- Provide support, leadership, and expertise for the requirements definition, design, testing, and implementation of GS1 CA products and services through demonstration of working knowledge of SDLC and Agile principles.
- Prepare end-user documentation and training material;
- Resolve conflicts/issues using different tactics prior to escalation.
- Understand all business systems within GS1 Canada to perform proper impact assessments;
- Conduct workshops, demos, and pilots with internal stakeholders and the subscriber community;
- Work closely with the project manager to monitor and ensure that the project is being accurately tracked.
- Support industry committees with functional expertise on business systems;
- Present analysis, requirements, and findings to management and internal/external stakeholders to communicate systems/business capabilities and recommendations
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in Business or Information Technology;
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar IIBA certification;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Retail, Manufacturing, and/or Supply Chain industries in the capacity of business analysis, including systems and solution design
- Experience working closely with engineering, data, and architecture teams
- Demonstrated ability to document clear, structured requirements for a business and technical audience
- Strong experience with process modelling, system flows, data flows, and integration analysis
- Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies
- Strong facilitation skills to gather and document requirements;
- Proven experience supporting multiple projects with competing priorities and strict deadlines;
- Proven ability to build effective and successful relationships within and outside the organization;
- Ability to work at a detailed level and quickly learn business application-specific details;
- Strong orientation toward excellence in results and proven ability to quickly become a subject matter expert;
- Communicates complex issues clearly and understandably to others and has proven presentation skills;
- Capable of applying professional knowledge, possessing a high level of problem-solving, analytical abilities, and negotiation skills;
- Proven high level of proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint, etc);
