As part of the Interconnects Product Line Management (PLM) organization, this role will support one of the fastest growing business units within Ciena and help establish world-class business operation practice within the PLM organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Product Pricing.
- Develop tools to track pricing and work with PLMs, sales, and commercial mangers on pricing recommendations
- Develop selling propositions to support pricing models and assist account teams in positioning with customers
- Product Costing.
- Track cost profiles and work with PLMs to develop margin projection models
- Product Forecasting.
- Develop and maintain various forecast tools and models based on regular account inputs, historic data, analyst reports, and in-house mathematical models.
- Commercial.
- Work closely with sales and legal departments to review deal sheets, supply agreements, terms & conditions, as well as trade compliance and export/import control.
- Track, maintain, and recommend portfolio-wide life cycle support terms and conditions
- Financial Planning.
- Develop multi-year financial projection models with revenues and margin predictions to support multi-year strategic planning
- New Product Introduction (NPI) Logistics.
- Work closely with PLMs, sales, engineering, and supply-chain-operations to facilitate early product samples shipment for lead customer lab trials
- Product Allocations
- Work with PLMs and order fulfillment to facilitate allocation decisions and priority settings in cases when demands outpace supplies.
How You Will Contribute
- Good understanding of basic product financials - ROI, variable cost, cost reduction over time, gross margin, overhead costs, cost of capital, etc
- Advanced Excel skills (Formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and Data Tables, What-if scenarios etc)
- Ability to mine data, generate reports, derive meaningful insights
- Ability to synthesize data into actionable recommendations
- General technical knowledge of the network and communications industry
- Detail-oriented and data-driven problem solver
- Driven to understand systems and processes at deep levels so we can get to issue root cause and process improvement
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Analytical, fact-based problem solver
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience working on multiple deliverables or projects from initiation to close-out, including effective planning, requirements gathering, workflow mapping, schedule, and issue tracking, highly organized
- Customer/market focused - ability to identify and prioritize business impacts of various tasks and requests
- Comfortable working with team members, broad range of co-workers across organizations, including peers and executives
- Ability to handle a fast-paced business environment
Must Haves
- Minimum of 5 years working in technical business role in telecom, datacom, components, or software industry
- University degree
The annual pay range for this position is $71,800 - $114,800 CAD

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
