Our challenge
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Big Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data infrastructure and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big data technologies, data modeling, and processing large datasets to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement big data solutions to meet business requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements.
- Analyze and interpret large data sets to gain insights and make recommendations.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, processing and storage solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with latest big data technologies and best practices.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.
- Experience with big data processing tools like MapReduce, YARN, etc.
- Knowledge of big data storage solutions like HDFS, NoSQL databases, etc.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Java, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, etc.
- 7 years of experience in big data development and implementation.
- Experience working with large-scale data processing and storage solutions.
- Understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
- Designing and implementing big data solutions to meet business requirements.
- Analyzing large data sets to gain insights and make recommendations.
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines, processing and storage solutions.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Staying up-to-date with latest big data advancements and incorporating them into work.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in big data technologies or cloud computing are a plus.
Preferred, but not required:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
- Adaptable to changing project requirements and technology advancements.
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
