Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic Data Solutions & Engineering team in Corporate IT. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and supporting advanced data integration and analytics solutions that drive business value across the organization. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, including Informatica IDMC, Tableau, AWS, and other cloud-based platforms, to deliver robust data applications and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and optimize complex Tableau dashboards and visualizations for business intelligence reporting
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC)
  • Develop and maintain data models for data warehousing, leveraging tools such as ERwin, PowerDesigner, and Amazon Redshift
  • Implement and manage data solutions on AWS and other cloud platforms, applying best practices in operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all platforms
  • Support development of high-level solution options, project proposals, and detailed work estimates
  • Deliver solutions following Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies for both waterfall and agile projects
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes for improved performance
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, with hands-on expertise in Tableau development, including dashboard creation and optimization
  • Strong proficiency in Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) development
  • Experience with data modeling and data warehousing, especially with Amazon Redshift
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science principles
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance requirements, and production implementation change management processes
  • Experience with project management, SDLC, Agile, and Lean methodologies
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (AWS, Tableau, Informatica)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines

Note: As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
