Translates creative software design concepts and ideas into reality using front end technology. Acts as a bridge between the presentation layer and the backend layer. Understands requirements, designs interactive and intuitive interface programs that enhance the customer/user experience. Applies an in-depth understanding of the latest programming languages, frameworks and practices around interaction design/User Centred Design (UCD). Works closely with User Experience (UX) and Visual Designers, Product Owners, and Technology stakeholders to support user experience improvements. Ensures consistent application of design system standards.

  • Collaborates with business and IT to identify the business need for the user interface that needs to be created and ensures alignment with brand and design standards and guidelines.
  • Uses responsive web designs to create applications that automatically match multiple screen sizes/devices​.
  • Conducts usability testing to identify and fix UI issues and collects insights from target users​.
  • Improves the user experience by making it easy for users to navigate different digital properties and interfaces.
  • Supports the design and front-end development of new features and functionality across digital channels​.
  • Creates storyboards to conceptualise designs and applies an in depth knowledge of user interface development technology stack and frameworks​.
  • Writes documentation around the user interface to ensure the decisions for designs/configurations are documented​.
  • Participates in the design process as a consultant on possibilities, takes the design created by the UX Designer as an input, and executes the design vision into an engineered reality.​
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Salary:

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
