Job Summary

Global Technology Services (GTS), a foundational division of TMX Group, empowers internal business lines with technology, operations, and digital innovation. As a client-centric organization, GTS builds technology capabilities, provides solutions, and ensures effective financial and resource management. Cost-effective operation is key to GTS's execution, delivering all technology initiatives and services across TMX.

As a Senior DevOps Analyst within our operational development team (DevOps), you will play a pivotal role in the support, maintenance, and evolution of mission-critical TMX systems. Operating within a highly regulated environment where we focus on the operational stability and enhancement of the platforms we support, rather than core product development.

You will act as a delegate for the DevOps Lead, taking ownership of specific systems or components. This involves guiding the work of DevOps Analysts, making key operational and project-level decisions, and ensuring the health and performance of our services. This senior position requires strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, although it does not have direct reports. You will be instrumental in navigating the evolution of our platforms, integrating cutting-edge technologies like cloud solutions and Kubernetes into complex, established systems. Your proactive approach and deep system knowledge will be crucial for anticipating issues, preventing outages, and driving improvements in our release pipelines and automation strategies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as a technical lead and point of escalation for specific TMX systems (e.g., CDCC, MX), guiding DevOps Analysts in daily tasks and project work.

  • Oversee and ensure the operational health, maintenance, and evolution of supported applications within controlled environments.

  • Make informed decisions regarding operational procedures, incident response, and project implementations impacting supported systems.

  • Evaluate alerts, troubleshoot complex issues across Linux and Windows environments, and coordinate resolution efforts, including Level 2, 24/7 production support participation.

  • Verify, validate, and enhance deployment, migration, and automation strategies, ensuring adherence to team standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with Agile squads, Infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders, providing operational requirements and advising on technical improvements.

  • Drive the adoption of modern technologies (Cloud, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD tools like Ansible, Jenkins) within legacy system contexts.

  • Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.

  • Coordinate and participate in non-functional testing and performance tuning efforts.

  • Ensure all activities comply with TMX, GTS, and Information Security standards.

Must haves:

  • 10+ years’ experience supporting, operating, and enhancing mission-critical applications, ideally within capital markets or regulated financial environments.

  • Proven experience leading operational tasks or projects within a technical team structure.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., 5+ years with Bash, Python, PowerShell).

  • Expert knowledge of Linux and Windows OS administration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience working with Big Data technologies (5+ years).

  • Significant knowledge of trading, clearing systems, or market data feeds.

  • Experience with modern DevOps practices and tools in complex environments (e.g., Cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes/Docker, CI/CD tools like Jenkins/Ansible, ArgoCD, Git).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage incidents under pressure.

  • Proven excellence in communication, collaboration, and technical documentation.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

  • Knowledge of relevant protocols (e.g., FIX).

Nice to haves:

  • Experience specifically with CDCC, MX, or other TMX systems.

  • Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, Dynatrace, Prometheus).

  • Experience with specific technologies in the TMX stack (e.g., IBM MQ, Solace, Citrix).

  • AWS certifications or equivalent cloud certifications.

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management principles (e.g., ITIL).

Note
  • Hybrid working model in Montreal
