Are you a seasoned DevOps professional eager to drive best-in-class infrastructure and deployment practices? As a Senior DevOps Engineer on our CoCounsel for Government team, you’ll architect and maintain robust AWS environments, implement secure CI/CD pipelines, and ensure compliance with stringent government regulations. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about both the “dev” and the “ops” sides of DevOps.
 

About the role
 

Architect & Implement

  • Design and manage AWS infrastructure (with an emphasis on CloudFormation), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and observability across all environments.
     

Secure & Compliant

  • Integrate security best practices and government compliance (FedRAMP, FIPS) into the DevOps lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with InfoSec teams to proactively address vulnerabilities and maintain hardened systems.
     

Python Proficiency

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling in Python, with an emphasis on production-grade code and performance.

  • Advocate for code quality, documentation, and type safety where applicable.
     

Continuous Improvement

  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging systems to improve developer productivity and reduce downtime.

  • Mentor junior engineers on DevOps methodologies, offering code reviews and technical guidance.
     

About You
 

Experience

  • 4+ years in DevOps, site reliability engineering, or a related role, focusing on AWS and container-based architectures.

  • Proven track record designing and supporting production environments with a high degree of automation.
     

Technical Proficiency

  • Deep understanding of AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation), Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Strong background in Python for writing infrastructure tooling or backend services, with a preference for well-structured, type-informed code.
     

Security & Compliance Awareness

  • Comfortable implementing compliance requirements and secure coding practices, particularly in government-regulated environments.
     

Collaboration

  • Adept at working cross-functionally, from product managers to security teams, communicating effectively about infrastructure and deployment strategies.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

  • Experience automating compliance checks or vulnerability scanning.

  • AWS GovCloud experience.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.

For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $88,200 - $163,800.

This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
