We're looking for a technical, hands-on, and mission-focused Senior Engineering Manager to join our Ads team. This org just started last year and is growing fast. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling our ads platform from its foundations, focusing on our delivery, targeting, and measurement systems. You will lead a team of engineers working across platforms to build revenue driving products and services at Discord.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work with Product, Design, Business Development and Marketing to drive your org’s vision and roadmap
- Build a team of engaged engineers by hiring, coaching, and instilling best practices
- Collaborate on designing scalable technical solutions, and help to set the technical strategy of our ads architecture
- Instill a culture that both drives both impactful results and delights the end user
- Use your technical expertise and ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we set
- Make sound first-principle decisions around resourcing, and making the rationale clear to partners and team members
- Partner with your senior manager on strategic planning and to improve the Engineering organization and uphold our workplace philosophy
What you should have
- You have 5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager
- You have experience working on ads
- You collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to define great solutions to business problems
- You take pride in delivering a delightful experience for end users, stakeholders and anyone you work with
- You are motivated to help your team members succeed and have experience growing engineers
- Code doesn't scare you - you are still an engineer even if you don't do it all the time
Bonus Points
- You understand the gaming industry
- Prior experience with ad tech (especially delivery, measurement and targeting)
- You are a Discord user, and understand the core features and flow of Discord communications
Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $304,000 to $342,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
