What You’ll Be Doing

The Business Initiatives & Analytics team ("BI&A") is accountable for aligning Capital Market Controllership's strategic initiatives for people, policies and technologies across geographies with a mindset to optimize processes and eliminate inefficiencies. You will leverage your data analytics background and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau & DevOps to create workflows and visualizations to help management draw insights and aid in strategic decision making. You will contribute to and lead projects to optimize processes, working with a variety of internal stakeholders including Global Markets Trading, Technology and Operations as well as numerous groups within Finance.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Relationship Management -  possess good teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner with team members and stakeholders from different backgrounds and experiences. You will liaise daily with Finance, Front Office and other Capital Markets’ stakeholder groups.

  • Accounting and Controls - draw on your controls & governance skill sets to design and implement processes that result in accurate, complete, and timely inputs used throughout Finance. You take a holistic view of problems end to end and develop deep understanding of the current state so you can recommend ways to do things better. You draw on your past experiences to lead significant break investigations and analysis which is then summarized and presented to key stakeholders.

  • Subject Matter Expertise - Provide subject matter expertise on business analytics serving as the lead on all reporting / data visualization projects to gather reporting and data visualization requirements and develop user reports and dashboards.

  • Data/Reporting - Deliver key design and solution on reporting and dashboarding projects as well to provide thought leadership on data capture and delivery for the overall project.

  • Advisory - Provide advisory and training to Finance users on the adoption and proper use of the business analytics tools.

  • Agility - drive value by integrating, standardizing and sustaining the processes throughout the CIBC. You will help in eliminating process inefficiencies and creating enterprise-wide changes by developing a good understanding of the current state processes, defining the target state, and helping establishing a plan to streamline.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in Capital Markets Accounting supporting the oversight and governance functions, including enhancement of financial controls across multiple groups. In addition, you are an experienced data professional. You have experience analyzing & visualizing data into meaningful insights. You have comprehensive knowledge of a number of workflow automation or data visualization tools / platforms with the ability to interpret complex business requirements. It's an asset if you have practical DevOps, Alteryx & Tableau experience.

  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Data Analysis, Business, Finance or Accounting. A certification in data analytics is an asset.
